Wendy Williams Releases National PSA For Substance Abuse Hotline

Wendy Williams released a PSA on substance abuse in honor of her national hotline on Friday. Created in partnership with Williams' The Hunter Foundation and T.R.U.S.T, the video will air across the country on a variety of television networks. Since its inception last month, the hotline, 1-888-5HUNTER (6837), has received over 10,000 calls ranging from requests for educational materials, treatment requests for detox, rehabilitation, sober living and outpatient centers. In addition, the hotline has placed 400 patients into the necessary treatment facilities. Proud of the hotline's accomplishments, the Emmy-nominated host said, "10,000 calls in three weeks is remarkable! We're doing our part by getting the word out. All it takes is one call to get on the right path. We're here to help," in a statement obtained by EBONY. More than just an opportunity for those struggle with drugs and substance abuse, the hotline also offers support for loved ones of those who are struggling. Williams encouraged viewers battling addiction that there was no shame in their struggles. "There is hope. I'm living proof," she said. The hotline is accessible 24 hours a day and is led by certified recovery coaches who provide assessments and match callers with the necessary treatment.
